Hello, if you have a 40 years or older classic car it would be great if you could join us for some motoring fun on the Isle of Wight edition of the Distinguished Gentleman's Drive (DGD). We’re raising awareness and funds towards men’s physical and mental well-being on behalf of Movember, and doing this by driving and displaying our classic vehicles for the enjoyment of ourselves and others.
As you know, prostate cancer affects more men than any other cancer, and too many men struggle with poor mental health or die from suicide. That’s a lot of men affected mentally or physically every year. This must change. So this summer we are launching the 2024 Isle of Wight edition of The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive to get behind the wheel of this important cause, to help steer men's health in a positive direction - and we’d really like you to join in by driving your classic to raise funds to support this work. There is a minimum donation of £25 per driver for entry, with a £5 separate payment (to be paid on the day) for each passenger – for this you get a breakfast bap, afternoon tea, tour booklet, tour plate and the chance to enjoy some distinguished & dapper camaraderie. Plus the option for your car, you, and/or your passengers to take part in informal Concours de Elegance and Sartorial Style competitions!
Here, so far, is the key information for this year’s Island DGD Drive!
When & Where? - Sunday 29 September 2024 at Newclose County Cricket Ground, Newport.
Timings? - Rendezvous for 9am to an Au Revoir at circa 4:00pm.
What’s planned? - ‘Fuel-Up Breakfast Baps!’, an involving self-drive tour of about 68
miles around our fabulous Island by ‘tulip’ route instructions, then
finishing with a ‘Parc Ferme Cream or Savoury Tea’.
Who? - Up-to 40 distinguished & dapperly dressed drivers with their 40 years or older
classic cars. Perhaps with some similarly minded & attired
passengers? Also some friends and family as spectators adding to
the fun, spectacle and supporting the cause of men’s well-being!
